Pavement Art or Chalk Art has been evolving all over the world for centuries. It involves a melee of Artists all creating masterpieces in front of the public with soft pastels or chalk.
Sidewalk Art or Chalk Art Festivals have become a very popular way of artistic expression.
It is gaining popularity throughout Australia in conjunction with corporate events and advertising.
In Australia, The Chalk Urban Festival in Sydney has been run as a very successful Festival Event for over 5 years. The response from the public is overwhelming and the support from their local council was very commendable.
Chalk the Walk at the Gold Coast has also proven to be a great success with over 10 000 visitors through in 2009.
In 2011, they both decided to expand their artistic talents to Chalk Pavement Art. They attended the Chalk Urban Art Festival in Parramatta and from the skills learnt from their have brought this medium to the streets of Cairns. They were commissioned by JCU Cairns Campus to complete a 3D Chalk Piece for their 2012 Orientation Week
Their application to the 2012 Cairns Festival was successful and they completed a 3D Pavement Art Piece for the 2012 Cairns Festival. The work was of a very high standard and was enjoyed by passersby for many months.
New Years Eve 2012, they completed a superheroes themed work for local business Gilligans in Grafton Street, to enhance their festivities for the evening.
